Research Task - Recycling
Film - The Iron Giant
In the film The Iron Giant a young boy finds a giant robot and befriends it. When a secret agent finds out about the robot he tells the army and they believe the robot to be a threat and so try to destroy it but in the end themselves need saving by The Robot. In the film recycling is shown by a man that works at a scrapyard, he recycles the scrap he has to build sculptures of various things.
Literature - Winnie The Pooh Chapters IV, VI, VII and X (Eeyore)
Winnie The Pooh is about a small bear and his friends who are all various animals, as well as a young boy named Christopher Robin and their adventures in The Hundred Acre Wood. One of Pooh's friends is called Eeyore, he is featured in a few chapters and is always losing his tail, which is held on by a pin and also trying to build a house. Recycling is shown in Winnie The Pooh by Eeyore, he recycles sticks to use to build his house multiple times throughout the books.
Game - Knack
In the game Knack you play as Knack a small robot type thing, made up of various different shaped and sized relics. Throughout the game you use the relics to assist you, you either collect them to heal yourself and make yourself bigger. You can also recycle them and use them to help open pathways and doors to help you progress further.
Illustration - Recycling Picture
The picture shows two people throw their rubbish away into a recycle bin and dropping some plant matter waste onto the floor to grow the tree that the two people are sat on/in. The cycle then continues of people having waste and recycling it and growing plants and then getting waste from it and so on.
Animation - The Wombles
The Wombles are bear like creatures that live in Wimbledon, London. The Womble motto is "Make Good Use Of Bad Rubbish". They go around collecting bits of rubbish and scrap and then use it back in their home to make things in creative ways. The wombles would wander around parks in London collecting bits of rubbish and storing it in their bags then bringing it back home with them, once home they would recycle it and make it into something they could use.
Artist/Designer - Andrew Chase
In Andrew Chase's work he uses piece of scrap and metal to build animals. The picture to the left shows what seems to be a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Some of his other work consists of a Gorilla, a Polar Bear, an Elephant, a Giraffe and a Cheetah. Recycling is shown in his work by him using pieces of metal create his sculptures of these animals.
